Package Coalition Statement on USPS Financial Report

Washington, D.C. - Following the release of the USPS 2018 Financial Report, Package Coalition spokesperson John M. McHugh issued the following statement:

"We are encouraged that today’s report confirms that package delivery services continue to be a financial bright spot for the U.S. Postal Service. Package volumes continued to grow in FY 2018, up 7 percent. Increased package volumes continue to generate increased and much-needed revenue for the Postal Service. In FY 2018 package revenues increased by $2 billion in year over year (an increase of 10 percent), now contributing approximately 30 percent of total revenues. This continued growth is the result of USPS’ unparalleled ability to deliver packages to more than 157 million doorsteps, seven days a week. Postal package delivery is particularly critical for small businesses and consumers in remote and rural areas.

"Reliable and affordable postal package delivery services are crucial for American businesses and consumers across the country. The Package Coalition looks forward to working with Congress and other policymakers to support and sustain reliable, affordable postal package delivery services."
